I managed to fix it, by taking off the front door panel. Inside I found a connector was loose. Plugged it back in and fixed it with a little insulation tape, so that it did not shake loose again, and it works just fine.
Now how much would that have cost me for an engineer?
Its just a shame the inspectors on the production line are not a little more vigilant in spotting possible problems like this one. But then the engineers would not be able to make a quick buck on a simple job I guess.
