##SIGMA TEL AUDIO MICROPHONE## cant get it to work?

I solved it completely by installing Intel Audio Studio and then checking "Rear Mic" in the Recording section of Volume Control Panel.

Resetting Microphone Driver

Delete corrupted driver
1. Right click on the My Computer icon and choose the option Properties.
2. Choose the tab Hardware.
3. Click the button Device Manager
4. Click the plus sign next to Sound, video and game controllers
5. Highlight the option SigmaTel C-Major Audio
6. Press the Delete key on the keyboard
7. Confirm the deletion

This will delete the older driver software. Next, you will need to reinstall the driver for the microphone.

Install new driver
1. Choose the menu option Action at the top of the window
2. Choose the selection Scan for hardware changes. You system will reinstall the hardware driver.


This should take care of the problem. Retest microphone in application.

what do you do if sigmatel window pops up and you click microphone but it stays as line in for some reason?

I have the same prob maybe my advice is to reject any motherboard that uses sigmatel,it really sucks and a pain.

I have the same problem, but not as you might think.

I had this problem while playing games. I couldn't be heard at all, or my mic sounded TERRIBLE! (as told by the guys I played with)

Later I found out, that the terrible sounding recording was from the internal mic, and I had to do something. I then picked up the sound settings via Control Panel, and got rid of this terrible error.

Now, This is my question to you guys:
How can you prevent SigmaTel Audio from setting "Line In" as default when launching the PC?
I'm sick and tired of the pop-up, but it can't be helped, can it?

I have the same problem with vista OS with gates way computer and Sigma Tel sucks. No mic with Vista. I tried three month now and update the drivers but No mic.. SIMGA TEL sucks, I really don't know what to do now

hope this helps, I have a Sigma Tel Audio, Windows XP SP3 and my external microphone did not worked because it was detected like a "line in" instead of microphone. So, go to control panel, Sigma Tel and check the "Allow reconfigurations pop-ups". When the mike is plugged in, a pop-up window shows up asking if the mike is a line in or a microphone... just choose microphone, for me it worked.

I have the opposite problem. At first I couldnt hear a thing the mic wasnt picking up at all. The guy above is right set up the port to rear microphone and it will work. Now the problem is that the mic is on all the time and its picking up everything and going right to the speakers. How do yous set it up to only go on once you enter ventrilo or set up hot keys cause now its always on.

Quick Fix:

Start>Control Panel>Sound And Audio Devices>

Click the voice tab. Go down to voice recording, click volume.

Then click advanced.

Then click Microphone boost.

You're not crazy, Sigma Tel bites donky @$#@! I've tried it all, sticking it in the rear, up the front, tweaking the volume in Sigma Tel's settings, switching all the input options, boosting--and then did the same thing with XP: end result is that the most I can get out of it is a faint whisper of a pickup. I've had better luck with two empty soup cans and a stand of string. Short of unistalling the software and letting XP manage it, I don't know what else to try. Updating drivers? Haven't tried it but don't have faith. Good Luck!

Hey i have the same problume, i have a dell xps 1730 and a sigmatel microphone array, it worked fine for about a month then i reinstalled vista and magicaly it can't detect i have the mic so it wont let me install the drivers.

I have the same problem, I have Vista, yet my mic worked on it before, but then my comp messed up so i had to reformat, install Vista again, then after that my mics didnt work all of a sudden!

So Frusterating since I like to play games with friends!

I have SigmaTel also, with the same problems...

Guys,

i hav had this problem for almost a month and got this solved by today after a long battle... my pc is running on XP os and hav sigmatelaudio driver installed in it. my microphone is connected to by rear microphone (pink color) port.

I hav done the following steps to hear my voice:

Control Panel -> SigmaTel Audio
Goto Levels tab -> Under Recording Control option, hav checked the Rear Mic and turned off the Microphone Boos and that's it.
Checked the Sound Recorder and IT WORKED!!!!!!!

no answer here but i have the same problem with the sigma tel.i have the xps 710 and when i log into my game i have to check the box on the mic everytime,what a pain in the pooper.

S igma Tel sucks. No mic with Vista. Have tried 3 headsets. Have re-installed latest sound drivers 3 times. Have set mic to max volume and default STILL NO MIC blo*dy rubbish. They need a good kick up the ars*.

I have the same problem. SigmaTel only works very, very faintly. You need to go into Sounds and Audio Device Properties, select the Voice tabe and then hit the volume button to bring up the Recording Control to select between the front or back microphone input.

Even then, I could barely get the volume to an audible level. Strange. Still working on it.

Are you using a voip phone or software on your system could be that the the voip phone is set as the default sound device,Check sound control in control panel under tabs audio and voice.
