I just solved this on mine last weekend. The problem is most likely in the tap-and-go line advance because of excess friction on the spool due to dirt in the hub.

Remove the spool and clean the inside of the hub very well, with Simple Green or something similar. Once clean, you may even want to Armorall it to decrease friction. Check the tabs on the spool to make certain they're not burred or damaged in any way that would increase friction.

That ought to do it. If the line still sticks after this, try putting a little dish soap on your fingers and pull the line through it before you wind the spool.
