how do i refit the gear selector on my astra 1.6 ?

remove gearstick gaiter and align hole at bottom of gearstick on the left hand side with holein lower hosing with small screwdriver having already slackened off pinch bolt on selector rod outside at gearbox then remove plastic plug on gearbox selector mechanism and move the shaft on it until u can locate a locking pin or similair into it then tighten your pinch bolt and remove both locking pins

think the adjustment is from underneath,you will see the torx 50 pinchbolt,usually make sure the g/box is in neutral,get someone to hold gearlever in neutral half way between 5th and 1st and shouldnt be too far away,may need the odd tweak
