Triton 7500xi overflow leak fix?

Been reading entries here about Triton showers with water coming out of overflow and pressure dropping connected to replacing PRV. Had engineer come yesterday and fix it with power putty instead of new part.... Reading entries I am concerned what will happen if there is excess back pressure, is this safe as there are wires exposed in the unit? Does anyone here know? He said it's fine as it's a sealed unit (whatever that means) but I 'saw' wires inside the unit. Help, is my shower safe??? Thanks :)

Hey thanx for taking time to read and answer my Q :) However, I learnt this is the ideal as researched last night on web but an engineer came out yesterday and repaired the outlet with power putty, NOT with a new part/PRD or PRV. So my question is actually is this unit safe in the event of back pressure occurring repaired with power putty?? There is no outlet now for water to escape I presume. I want to go back to landlord but with more info than I have at moment.

Pressure Relief Devices are designed to activate in the event of a build up of pressure within a shower unit - usually caused by a blocked shower head, blocked/ twisted or kinked hose.

Although the shower does contain various electrical components and wires when the PRD operates the water will be directed out of the unit safely via with a small tube or channel within the product and providing that the unit has been installed correctly and in accordance with manufacturers instructions should not cause any danger to the unit or user

I hope this information is of help.

Karl
