quad wont spark?

i have a quad which i was given and it wont spark ive tried new plug and coil and it recently had a new stator fitted. ive tried the plug out of the engine against the engine and theres no spark. ive also tested with a voltmeter and there is current running all through the harness from every connection. its a 2 stroke chinese import 100cc engine. please help
