Mend Ford 2000 Wiring Wires Connected

6-volt gen. wiring?

i just got a 1964 ford 2000 tractor. new gen., but wires not connected. i know the larger wire goes on end of gen.,but not sure where two smaller wires go. one is black & the other is red. Gen. marked ground & field. Can you help? Thanks
