How do I test evaporator fan?

I have a Scandinova upright freezer which freezes on the bottom shelves but the evaporator fan does not blow the cold air to the top. It is a three wire system with red, blue and purple wires. What should each wire have on it or which are live/neutral. The earth wire is separate. The wires are sealed into the fan motor.
