how can i stop my pioneer 1280 car changer from skipping?

my pioneer 1280 car cd changer has developed a skipping problem after 12 months of good perforamance. Now it starts skipping suddenly even when the engine is not running. After ten or fifteen minutes of struggle like turning it on/off and shuffling through different cd's it comes to normal. I have changed the battery and checked all the electrical connections and my car coils fuses generator distributor and serviced the changer but the problem wont go. Is there any solution to this or should i buy a new one?
