How to get into a Dyson Bagless Cyclone Vacuum Cleaner?

I have an electrical short in my Dyson Bagless vacuum cleaner and need to get into the body of the machine. I have a friend who is a sparky and he is going to take a look. However you seem to need a special tool to get into it from both the top and bottom of the machine. I have tried a few alon keys and that doesn't work. Can anyone help.
