how can i stop the alarm from going off intermittently on a zafira?

I had this same problem on my Zafira. Luckily it was less than 3 years old and the dealer fitted a new alarm unit - it has its own battery. The dealer said this was a fairly common problem

On my Zafira (new shape - 05), the intermitent alarm was cured by the dealer. They had to 'reprogramme' it. I guessed they took the fault code from the ECU. ....If your can, get the dealer to look within days of the alarm going off, or i believe the fault codes will be overwritten.

There are two or three things that can cause the alarm to go off intermittently.
1 The main fault is the horn/alarm unit, this corrodes internally.
To replace the unit is a simple job,it is located behind the offside front wheel behind the plastic weather guard.
2 The rear side windows are lnked to the alarm system, these sometimes get damaged if a dog has been in the load area. They can be isolated by removing the interior side panels and link the two wires together.
Note. Switch the ignition on before changing the alarm unit, otherwise the unit will sound when you disconnect it.
