ford escort 1,8 zetec 1800cc?

hi i am just wondering if anyone can help me please i have a problem with my escort when i start it and drive from cold when i slow down it likes to stall and when i put my foot down a bit it wants to go but hesitates just wondering if anyone can help me fix the problem thank you for any answers i would be greatful
