Ford Mondeo switch only works one way?

i have just purchased a 2002 Mondeo Estate and the sunroof switch only works one way but if i keep my finger on the button it will go through the cycle and close again but can anyone tell my why the switch only works one way is it only a faulty switch or is there a reset i can try any help appreciated.
