How to unscrew Herga 6442?

I have this Herga 6442 part where the bellows inside the button seems to have cracked or torn. I think they can send me a replacement but I can't get the thing to open! Bit wary of using a wrench too roughly for fear of breaking it and I don't even know if the black rim on the white stem is the one I should be unscrewing. Any ideas?

The larger thumb of a Marigold glove worked for me…simples!

The solution provided here works magic!

Absolutely right, Lionel. Just place a flat bladed knife between the white portion and the chrome portion and gently lever apart. The two pieces will separate and the bellows may be extracted. Temp repair of bellows with superglue but you can purchase a new bellows for less than a fiver!
If I can do it anyone can!

Thanks for the info on opening.
If the bellows has only a small hole, fiting the cut-off finger of a lightweight rubber glove (eg Marigold) will provide a temporary repair.

I had this problem too. I despaired of solving it. Plumbers and plumbers merchants could only offer a complete new one at £100 + VAT. What an amazing source of help this website is!. It was very difficult to lever off because of the two small brass things embedded in the plastic which fit into a groove running round the steel top. I could find no way off extracting these so just had to use brute force to rip them out, thus damaging the plastic. All I need now is where to buy new bellows. Can anyone help?

Hi, it doesn't unscrew - you just need to prise off the chrome/silver surround (which is just push fitted) to gain access to the bellows.
