how can I fix the window handle/lock on the UPVC window?

The upstairs window opens out from the bottom. The window is open but the handle will only move between 3 o'clock and 2 and therefore I cannot unscrew the the screw behind the handle. The other screw is fine.The rod is not turning the bolt mechanism. Any suggestions please.

A new lock mechanism & handle may not be required, if it is a shootbolt mechanism the shootbolt may just require adjusting, if so you can disengage the shootbolt from the centre lock mechanism and you should be able to move your handle correctly, if this doesnt work then the centre gearbox only has failed and only this part needs replacing.

you need a new locking mechanism, so either force the handle or cut it as it has to come off to get the mechanism out. go online to get new mechanism and handle, the make will be stamped on the mechanism and measure the length of the handle spindle. most sites tell you what you need to measure anyway. approx cost inc postage £30
