How unlock Dyson DC19 dirt bin?

I own a Dyson DC 19, purchased in Dublin. Currently, I am unable to remove the cyclone and clear-bin in order to empty the bin. When I press the release catch on the cyclone assembly, nothing happens – nada. Could the cyclone assembly be locked?. What can I do to solve the problem and empty the bin which is up to its max? Please help
