Mend Seat Leon 1.9 TDI Boot Locking

Boot won't open/unlock?

I have a Seat Leon 1.9 TDI and sometimes the boot will not unlock with the central locking and sometimes it will. What could the problem be? When it won't unlock I have to crawl in through the car and release it with a screwdriver through a hole I have cut in the fascia.
