honda lawn tractor h2013S starter problem solution ?

Hello,
I have used an h20135 for ten years and suffered continuously from an unreliable starter. Make sure the battery is fully charged (check the amount of liquid in it - top up with distilled water if necessary). I also suspected the solenoid switch - very difficult to get at near the battery - and improved things by remounting it, suggesting the contacts were dirty. I have had the lid off the engine (air ducting) to expose the bendix(?) drive on the starter - make sure it is greased and free on its spindle (!!disconnect battery before doing this!!).
Apart from this it is a veritable brick-privy of a device.
