take it you mean performance air filter. if its a replacement it just fits inside air filter box. if its a whole unit you remove air filter box and pipe and fit it after the air mass meter. usually adds 3bhp and a bit of noise when you set off.

an air filter stops the dust getting into the fuel system and keeps the fuel/air mixture correct. to change filter lift bonnet and you are looking for a black box, undo clips remove old filter and replace with new one.just make sure the filter you are replacing is in a good clean condition, or you will start having problems.
