Nissan Micra S 2003 Gear Problem?

Hi,

When reverse parking sometimes the gear gets stuck in reverse and I need to turn off the car engine before I can get the gear out. It is doing this in reverse and 1st gear, it doesn't happen from a cold start and is intermittent.

The car runs fine with normal driving. I have only had the car for a week and bought it from a garage, I have taken it back to them and they have phoned Nissan who said they have never heard of this issue.

Any advise on what it could be would be greatly appreciated.
