maghagony table?

I had a piece of clear plastic over a cloth table cloth to protect the table cloth & the plastic was tucked under my table pad. Where the plastic was on my maghagony table for two years has damaged my table. It is not like a water stain but a shinny look aroud the edges about 10". I have tried corn starch & it did nothing.

if you are not bothered about loosing a bit of sheen then wire wooling the whole table WILL take them out.
