My Mountfield 50 sp is over revving?

I caught the cables on the shed while mowing and my Mountfield 50 sp immediately began to over rev. I followed the manual to adjust the accelerator cable, but that has not solved the problem. It over revs when the accelerator is set to slow or fast. I don't think anything broke off. Any ideas please?
