I have had a variety of dvd players and they end up the same way, play for about 1 year and then die with the same message, no disc present, please insert disk, Most of them are to inexpensive to fix, cheaper to go buy another, but would love to know what the reason for this message is.
I'm on my 4th, (all elcheepo) and every one dies after 9-12 months, everyone upon inspection suffered from DRY solder joints. I think it is just a case of NOTHING is made to last anymore
