Mend Black Forest Work Bought

make it work?

I have a Black Forest wall clock I bought in Germany about 14 yrs ago. It is not working.The people are out of the top. I attached the heavy cone things to one chain at the top and I put the other cone on the other chain and it goes all the way to the floor. How can I get it to work?

if the weight is going straight from the top to the floor this indicates that the ratchet fingers inside the drum are broke and not holding, you will need to take to a clock repairer and have replacement drum fitted
