Mend Rowenta DE 635 Steam Iron Replacement

how can i remove the two screws on my Rowenta iron?

the 2 screws need to be remove to replace the power cord.
a philips head screw driver will not do. these screws have 6 points with a thin 1/16 inch post in the center of the screw.
Do you have any ideas where I can get the type of screwdriver to remove these screws? The model is a Rowenta
professional steam iron DE 635 .

A regular torx screw driver will not work. You need a security torx set that will fit into a handle that will take replaceable drivers. The security torx sets are not expensive and will come in handy when repairing almost all home appliances.

The two screws in question are called security torx. They are torx screws with a post up the middle. They carry them at Loews or Home Depot, if you can find a clerk that knows what you are looking for.

You need to use a Torx screwdriver, #10 to remove the screws.

I have just taken similar screws from my rowenta steam iron, in the uk. I used a small thin regular screwdriver, actually the sort you test the mains with. It was not a good fit but it worked. Inside the wires terminated in standard electrical connectors, so replacing the cord would be easy. My problem is that the iron does not "get warm", the light is never on. I think the light might act as a fuse, as I cannot get into the bowels of the iron to see where the power supply stops.

Damn. I have the exact same problem. I tried to fabricate something out of a small piece of aluminum, then paperclips..no good. This is obviously a specialty tool.
