Enfield mantle clock. What are the 3 holes for exactly?

I have a newly purchased Enfield "Westminster Chimes" pedulem mantle clock, which has 3 holes, as far as I can see the hole inbetween the 3 and 4 is for winding the main spring. So the other holes I assume are for the chimes. It chimes the quarters, and the hourly time. What therefore do the bottom and the winder between the 8 and 9 do?

As you face the clock, the right hole is for the chimes, the center is for the time and the left is for the hour strike. Each one has its own mainspring and that is what you wind.
