daughter has a sanyo 21 inch combi the tv works okay but has been unable to use dvd why

you have to toggle between the 2 settings,
to make our 14" combi work we have to press the button on remote (DVD/TV) this turns off the TV tuner brings on the DVD player screen allowing the DVD now to operate, when finished will have to press the above button again or the telly tuner won't work.
