Turned the shower on, there was a burst of water then it went ofF as did the power light on the shower unit. The light on the mains socket is on but the light on the actual shower unit is not.
when the shower is switched on i get a knocking/tapping noise coming from behind heater control knob...i can see behind this is 2 microswitches...could they be faulty?

i had one fitted today and there is not hot water whatsoever just cold.
The plumber is suggesting i need thicker wire from the fuse box but i have only replaced like for like shower ie 8.5kw for 8.5kw and this is why the shower is not producing hot water. Have i been conned by the plumber or could there be a fualt on the shower?

I have fixed many tritons, the most usual trouble is caused by overheated burnt internal wires and soldered connections ,the fluxes used in the manufacturing process corrode and the electrical resistance overheats the plastics. All fixable if you can solder/crimp and strip the delicate parts .Power must be off and common sense needed.Heavy use in damp conditions kills these units. Its a sparks job to be safe, most just replace the whole thing .

sounds like a fault on the main switch.
check for loose connections burnt wires etc.
may be the switch has burnt out.
