Mend Vauxhall Corsa P Loud Noise

corsa gearbox?

hi, i have a manual 1.4 corsa p reg, when i select reverse the gearbox makes a loud crunching noise, but when engine is off, it is quiet. all other gears are ok, does anyone know what the cause is and how to repair if needed. thanks

Hi I'm not a manual guy but I guess that reverse has no synchro and problem could be due to clutch drag. I think that if it is idling too fast that could also be the problem. The bite point of the clutch would be near the floor if not releasing correctly.

look at clutch release arm on gearbox should be an adjusting nut there, a rough guide is to look at your clutch and brake pedals,get them level and you shouldn`t be far away,to give clutch more clearance screw adjusting nut in a small amount and check,good luck
