dark screen?

on my samsung le40 when i change it to dynamic mode the display goes darker rather than brighter. on backlight settings if you increase it, it goes darker if you decrease it, it goes brighter. samsung replaced the lcd as the older one got damaged but the problem still persists even with the new lcd screen.
