Do you need to remove the entire kingpost assembly or just the rack at the bottom?
If it's the latter, this is a bit more simple. The workshop manual shows it being possible to remove the lower assembly which contains the rack & pinion together with the slew actuators.
In principle the process is;
Extend rear arm out fully and support underneath the boom with a trestle.
Vent all services with the engine switched off.
Disconnect the feed to the slew actuators.
Place a trolley jack underneath the slew assembly and then undo the 4 bolts which connect it to the kingpost backplate.
Carefully let the assembly down on the trolley jack.
If you need to extract the rack, you will need to remove the slew actuators. It's worthwhile changing the seals at this point as well.
When putting back together, ensure that the master cog on the spline is engaged in the correct position.
It's not a 5 minute job and everything is very heavy but it's possible.
Hope this helps
