what is wrong with my plasma tv?

i bought a plasma tv about 3 years ago and took it out of the box about 3-4 weeks ago and it worked fine until one night it made a pop noise and the screen went completely black. now i get no sound or picture and when i try and turn it on sometimes it makes kind of a crackling sound... what is wrong with my tv?
