Water softener?

My softener is set to remove 22 grains of hardness (Thames Water figure) but I am still getting a slow build up of scale on my taps. When I test with the kit where you add a tablet to a water sample, it tests OK. Does anyone know how I can get a more acurate test done?
Thames Water won't help and independent labs charge an arm and a leg. (I have tried fooling the softener into thinking the water is harder than it is by increasing the setting to 24 grains but still get the scale.
Thank you

You don't say what make it is, try going to the makers first for a test kit, old test kits go out of date.
Try some simple tests first, is it using salt, is the by-pass valve closed and depending on make is there water in the brine tank and lastly has the salt formed a platform in the bottom of the brine tank. If it has clean all the old salt out and replace with new.

Have you looked at www.thameswater.co.uk? There is a section on water quality where you can type in your postcode and it will tell you the hardness of water being supplied to you.

There is no such thing as a 100% limescale remover

Try a 'salamander' in-line scale inhibitor from plumbers merchants, easy fit.
