Not an answer, but a question to Russ if I may as I have the same fault as Rab...

My leak is from the hose connector further in the machine (as you describe). I have purchased the o-ring for replacement, but my problem is that I can't remove the clip that is holding the hose in place. It's a funny looking small metal clip that appears to have been crimped on with a special tool? Any ideas how to remove it and how I can crimp it back on once I have replaced the o-ring? Thanks.

The problem is water leaking from any number of places inside the machine. To access the piping you need to remove the machine from the cabinet, remove the top metal cover (about 9 screws) and then the next metal cover under that (two screws at back). Disconnect power before doing this! Once the covers are off, you can search for leaks. First step is to mop up the water in the bottom of the unit below all the pipes and heater. Use a paper or cloth towel that you can wriggle down past everything to soak up the water. After this, plug the unit back in (keep clear of any live wires!) and you should see fault on water system message is now gone. If not, there is still more water to be soaked up. Now you can watch for leaks when you make a coffee. Most likely they will be from one of three places - first is at the heater unit, second is at the solenoid to the top left of the heater unit and third will be at some clip held plugs further in the machine behind the heater unit. If it is either of the first two, then simply buy a hose clamp (6-9mm hose) from you local hardware and attach near the existing clamp. Easy fix. If it is at the other plugs further in the machine which are held in by hair pin clips, then it will be a slow and not always successful job. Best is to get some new o-rings AND new hair pin clips first. The O rings are silicon (red) and 007 size. Remove the clips, remove the hoses from the socket, remove/ replace the o-rings and reassemble. With luck the leak will be gone. If not, try a little inox food grade grease on the o-rings before reassembly. This can be a frustrating leak to try and stop!!!!!
