And the programming will be lost as the time and date stamp. In fact everything that makes your alarm work out of the box and no doubt not how it was programmed to meet your or previous owners needs.

It is possible to download the USER instructions off the internet.
If you can use the default code, then you can surely change the code?
Make sure you get the right instructions - there were two similar panels - the 9448 and the 9448+

If the alarm triggered when the mains was turned off, I suggest it needs servicing - the £65 might not be too bad value if it includes parts.
