Mend Renault Megane 1977 Auto Automatic Drive

megane 1977 auto box probs?

my 1977 megane automatic takes a while to engage in drive then revs hard to get to 2nd 3rd fine after that reverse ok allso leaking fluid i topped it up still same any ideas cheers Tony

Not good. The forward clutch apply piston, the top plate or the drum itself has partially failed. The symptoms are normally worse when hot. This clutch is not on in fourth so therefore OK. If you kick down from fourth it will over rev if I am correct with the diagnosis.
