headboard is cracked where the siderail hooks into it?

sorry, there was no beadstead listed for choices...

I have an old wooden headboard, was my parent's - it has cracked around the place where the metal rods allow the siderail to hook into it.

I am wondering if Elmer's wood glue is good enough to use and if putting a c-clamp on it until it dries is sufficient.
