Mend Vauxhall Vectra Steering Petrol

how can i mend the power steering ?

the power steering on my vauxhall vectra 2002 /52 reg-1.8 petrol club has stopped working the steering wheel is now almost impossible to turn.What could the problem be and how can i go about trying to mend it myself i do know a bit about mechanicing.

first see if you have any power steering fluid in it if not put some in you may have a leek on the steering then have a look at the belt to see if its not to slack after that it my be the power steering pump
