Mend Clock Overwound Apart

my grandmother clock has stopped donging?

I think my husband has over-wound my grandmother clock. It has stopped donging altogether, however it is still working apart from this.
I would be so grateful if someone could help me as my Mother has just given this to me after having it herself for approx 20 years.
