Mend Homelite 26SS Trimmer Pull Retract

Grass Trimer?

I have a Homelite Mighty 26SS Grass Trimmer, the pull rope will not retract. I can rewind it by turning the head (?) but when I pull it again it will not retract automatically. The trimer is just over a year old and has been uesd less than a half dozen times, maybe 2-3 hours running time. What is the problem and, how do I get to the spring mechanism to see if I can find and correct the problem?
