How can I repair my Wilkinson Sword Extended Loppers?

If the blades don't open properly it is worth oiling the moving parts around the blade. Our blades seemed jammed but after some oil and using something sturdy (not fingers!) to prise open the blades, everything started working properly.

CUTTER SNAPPER POLE: OPENING, CLEARING JAM AND REASSEMBLY.
For Fiskars / Wilkinson Sword Power-Reel.

Use this procedure if it has jammed and is *outside the warranty*.

If it has jammed, this might be due to the cord snagging beneath the drum, instead of winding around it.

First, remove the spring that pulls the blade open.
Close the blades.
Place the mechanism with the orange lever side upwards, preferably holding it in a vice. Unbolt the lid - the lid is the cover with the orange lever.
Lift out the *small* drum, which is about one inch in diameter
The *large* drum is the one with the chain attached. It is at the bottom of the mechanism. Turn the large drum clockwise to wrap the chain around it. Make sure that cord doesn't snag.
Wrap the cord clockwise once around the small drum.
Bolt the lid back on, being careful not to snag the cord.
When putting the lid back on, some of the cord is wrapped around the groove channel on the outside of the lid, near the orange lever.
