how can i fix my ebac industrial 110v dehumidifier?

My dehumidifier works for 5-10 mins then packs in, also offering a squirt of water in the bucket. The sound of thew fan goes off and there is no mechanical noise whatsoever coming from it allthough if i put my ear closer i can hear electricity buzzing through it. it then will not switch back on for maybe 5-10 mins and i dont know what to do. Ive just bought it second hand and was wondering if there is a reasonable way to fix it. Im presuming that it is tripping out. Also the 110v transformer is very hot, but also im presuming that as i turned the machine on at dinner time and went out for an hour or so that this is the reason it is hot. Im currently letting it cool down to try everything again so i can watch what is going on, ie how long the machine works for before tripping out. Ive done this a few times since i came home and it worked for 5-10 mins but now that ive realised how hot the transformer is i need to let it cool before i get a better picture of whats going on. Or is there anyone who has the same problem and knows what to do about it?
