How can I repair my Homelite curved shaft trimmer?

I have an older 25 or 26cc homelite curved shaft trimmer that still runs fine, but the head stopped spinning today as I was trimming. The engine is running fine, but I hear a ticking near the head like something's disconnected inside the shaft near the head. Can I repair this shaft, or can I replace the entire shaft, or is it even worth the time and money. I see poor reviews on many of the newer machines, so if this one can be cheaply repaired maybe it's worth the effort. Thanks...

Thanks Husqvarna man...I was able to do that and the trimmer is back together. Now it seems I spoke too soon when I said it was running fine. It behaves totally different since I repaired it; although, I also replaced the prime bulb which was deteriorated with a new one that doesn't seem to fit correctly. The engine will not start when choked; if it starts it is when it is not choked...then it will run until I shut it off and it won't want to restart. It's a really hard start to begin with, but after it's been running a while I seem to have to let it sit before it will start back up again. I did replace the fuel and the spark plug; I also had the carb torn apart to change the prime bulb. Everything seemed OK in the carb, but I'm certainly no professional.

The inner drive shaft is like a big speedo cable, with a square on the end into the gear head, i guess the sqare has rounded off, you should be able to get a new inner shaft, they are used on most makes and models of trimmer even today.
