How can i make my back door on my renault scenic open from the outside?

The back door on my 2002 renault scenic wont open from the outside,I've taken the door panel off and it's like the handle has become unattached from some kind of wire which should be attached to the handle,I've tried to re-attach it but it's very tight for space and i can't see where to attach it too.
