Mend Renault Clio Car Reg Pads

Renault CLIO rear brakes?

Went to Halfords for rear brakes and from their car reg database they supplied me with pads.

Removed rear wheel and expected to see disc brake assembly, but looks suspicously like drum brakes. Cannot remove drum. No visible retaing nut or screws have just tried to gently lever it but not freeing off

Q1 Do I neet to get drum shoes first?
Qt How do I remove the drum?

Thanks

He is correct in saying that you remove the hub nut. However, I'm doing the same job, my drum is stuck solid, with handbrake released and hub nut off, drum won't even turn.
How likely is it that the bearings have seized?

the drum comes off with the hub/bearing as one unit. in the centre of the drum, you will see a metal cap, lever this off with a screwdriver. you will then find a large nut. if you remove the nut,(it may be fairly tight) the drum/hub should then pull straight off. sometimes it can be difficult to pull it off, this can be because of a wear ridge around the edge of the drum & you may need to wrestle with it. on re-assembly, it's best to use a new hub nut & torque it correctly & lock it in place. (and yes there are shoes inside it, & it would be a good idea to get everything that you need first!)
