Hamilton Mantel electric clock not working?

Hamilton Clock Co, No.544706, 110volt, 60 cycle, 2 watt.
Has not been run for 35 years and will not start. Attempted to start using following instructions printed on label. "START-Push in, turn left and let go" Clock has a movement hole in the front which moves when I turn the push in pin but does not continue when plugged in. Cord is old and frayed near back of clock. Thinking of taking it apart to replace the wires.

Your clock probably needs an overhaul. These old clocks had movements just like the spring wound clocks but used an electric motor. If it has not run in 35 years the oil is dried up and frozen the movement. You need to have it cleaned and the bushings checked. Not to many clockmakers will take it in for repair. You will need to check around on the internet or purchase some good books and start a new hobby.
