Needle is not picking up the thread?

Hi,

I have a fairly new small sewing machine and have been using it with no problems for the last 2 months.

Today I in mid of the sewing I#ve heard a clicking noise and I can't get the needle to pick up the thread from the bobbin below with the needle since then.

I have searched the forum and found a thread which had a few suggestions. (Taking needle out and making sure it was in correctly, changing to straight stitch etc).

I have tried all these but still cant get it working.

The needle is not actually going far enough down to pick up the thread from below, as far as I can tell.
