How can I get my zafira windscreen wipers to.. wipe?!?

Andy - you're a genius. That seems to be the exact problem. I took the whole arm off, and the teeth on the inside of the arm are totally worn out. The teeth on the bolt coming out of the car body are still intact. Hopefully i can get a pair of arms (hehe) without getting totally shafted...

I had the same problem with the snow,, but my wipers hit each other and got totally mangled. After replacing the wipers I noticed the new one on the near side didnt move. I took the full arm off and noticed the stump that comes out of the bodywork which the arm bolts to all the teeth had been ground out. my only option was reposition the arm and make sure the wipers didnt touch when operating then tighten the nut on the spindle as tight as I dare. To this day I have had no more problems with them.

Thanks for the advice - I'll try that in the morning when I can see what I'm doing.

I can hear the motor. Sometimes the driver wiper will work, but only moves about 90 degrees.

Just don't want to take it in to a garage if it's something simple I can fix myself.

Can you hear the motor running. If you can the wiper mechanism may have come off.You need to look under the plastic panel witch the wiper arm spindles pass through.
