how do i stop my zafira from losing power ????

hi , my 2001 , 1.816v vauxhall zafira is losing power and the revs keep going up and down slightly ! apperently it could be the egr valve or the temp sensor , can anyone confirm this or suggest another cure as this problem is driving me crazy !!!!!
