INDESIT DE73 UNUSUAL FAULT?

I have a indesit de73 which has been nothing but total rubbish over the last 3 years. Having had many faults which I have managed to fix it has thrown one which has stumped me totally.
The dishwasher now sits showing the drying symbol in the display. This drying symbol dissapears as soon as you put the control dial in reset but then reappears when a program is selected. Once a program is set the dishwasher just sits there doing nothing except showing the time for the program and displaying the little drying symbol. The machine shows no usual error codes i.e. A01, A02, A03.

Any help will be much appreciated.
